Rotarians Developing Worldwide Partnerships
Rotary clubs worldwide are joining forces with New Life International to support the water purification ministry. The purpose is simple: To provide “Safe Water for a Thirsty World.”
A Call To Service
In 2003, Rotarian Troy McCormick - then president of the Jeffersonville, IN Club - had a vision that his club could make a difference in providing safe water somewhere in the world. That vision became reality when the they sponsored four purifiers in three different countries. Now because of one club’s call to service, Rotary clubs throughout Indiana and the other states are sponsoring New Life International purifier systems.
Making a Difference
Rotary Clubs worldwide are sponsoring purifier systems where there is a great need for safe drinking water or where potable water is non-existent. New Life International sometimes works as the liaison by bringing clubs together - as they select their water projects for the year.
New Life has water purifiers and connections in over 59 countries around the world, and the fit seems natural.
Wants and needs for partnerships were collected as club representatives from around the world came by New Life’s display booth at the Rotary International Convention in Chicago in 2005. New Life collected the list of interested clubs and shared those wants and needs with with fellow Rotarians across the globe. New Life now plans to expand that concept at the 2007 convention.
Requests keep coming into New Life’s office weekly from different clubs and organizations that are looking for humanitarian water projects. Additionally, New Life receives requests for purifiers from villages, clinics, hospitals, schools, churches, disaster relief organizations, orphanages, refugee camp ministers, missionaries, doctors and various others who want to help provide safe drinking water for humans and their livestock. That’s what the Rotary plan is about - developing these international partnerships that help save lives.
Working together, hand in hand, New Life International and Rotary Clubs around the world can change the face of poverty as it pertains to community development.
